A dispute at a Colton restaurant in San Bernardino County over the weekend allegedly prompted a 34-year-old man to fire multiple rounds toward patrons as he drove away, police said Friday.

The incident was reported when gunshots were heard just before 12:30 a.m. Saturday on the 800 block of East Valley Boulevard, Colton police stated.

Officers learned that there had been a disturbance at the restaurant and that a man involved drove past a short time later, firing several shots at customers.

Investigators later identified Roberto GarciaVieyra as the suspect and took him into custody on Thursday without incident. "A firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was also recovered," police said.

No details were provided about the nature of the dispute that led to the shooting.

GarciaVieyra was booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on suspicion of attempted homicide.

Authorities asked that anyone who witnessed the shooting contact Detective Jaime Ramirez at 909-370-5021 or by email at jramirez@coltonca.gov. Those who wish to remain anonymous can contact the We-Tip hotline at 800-78-CRIME or visit wetip.com
